巽先生が編集委員の一人を務められるアメリカ研究ウェブ雑誌 The Journal of Transnational American Studies (JTAS) の最新号（Vol. 12, Issue 2, 2021）が刊行されました！本号は、スペシャル・フォーラム “Global Huck: Mapping the Cultural Work of Translations of Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”を収録。四大陸九地域——イラン、フランス、アラブ（エジプト、シリア）、ドイツ、帝政ロシア／ソ連、ブラジル、スペイン、インド、台湾——におよぶ『ハックルベリー・フィンの冒険』の読者受容、および翻訳の工夫やその限界に焦点が置かれています。本フォーラムのイントロダクション “Global Huck: Mapping the Cultural Work of Translations of Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”には、日本から石原剛先生（東京大学）が共同執筆者としてご参加されています。

また、最新研究書からの抜粋を集めたセクション “Forward”は、アフリカ系アメリカ詩人のソネット、キャサリン・マリア・セジウィック作品、或いは人身売買の問題にトランスナショナルな視座から切り込む論考、および復刻セクションの編集をお務めの Brian Russell Roberts先生による “Introduction: Archipelagic Thinking and the Borderwaters: A US-Eccentric Vision”が収録されています。つづく復刻セクション “Reprise”の Roberts先生によるイントロダクション “On Temporal Transnationalisms—The Exonational, the Decolonial Cosmogonic, the Unexceptional Human Fossil, and the Non-Earthbound” は、“Anthoropocene”と “deep time”を鍵語にしながら、トランスナショナル・スタディーズにおける地理的諸相だけでなく、時間的諸相の重要性をあらためてご指摘されます。そうした視座から、本セクションは四つのテクストを収録しています（詩とグラフィック・ショート・ストーリー含む）。ご関心のある方は、この機会にぜひアクセスを！（こちらからお読み頂けます）

  • 10.1 (2019) 二つの特集を収録。 “Archipelagoes/Oceans/American Visuality” は、六本の研究論文／ 16点あまりの造型芸術・インスタレーション／応答の三部構成。前号に引き続く、学際的なアプローチを通じた環境/社会/文化に関わる議論を収録。“Transnational Black Politics and Resistance from Enslavement to Obama” は、編者による序論と五本の論文を通じて、18世紀から現代におよぶブラック・アクティヴィズムを世界規模で考察。
  • 10.2 (2019) 詩人、批評家、JTAS 創設メンバーの一人シャーリー・ジョクリン・リム氏特集: “FESTSCHRIFT: THE POETRY & POETICS OF SHIRLEY GEOK-LIN LIM”を収録。 計八本の論考を通じ、「旅」や「家族」の主題/ 動物の（時にグロテスクな）比喩/「過去」との出会い方・描き方等々に注視しながら、リム氏の「トランスナショナル」な主体/主題/文体が同時代の性差/地域/政治/環境関連アクティヴィズムと密接な様相をもつものとして照射。特集最後には、五つの未発表詩作品が特別掲載。
  • 11.1 (2020) 特別フォーラム “American Territorialities”を掲載。Transnational American Studies がそれ自身の批判的視座として抱える問い「国家 “nation state”とは何か」を念頭に、“American Territorialities”を鍵語に、Craig Santos Perezの “American imperial terripelago” や Gloria Anzaldúaの “borderlands” をふまえ、法的 /地理的 / 地図的「境界」の諸交渉を視野に入れながら、アメリカ国内外における植民地主義 / 帝国主義を再検証する。冒頭論文は、Brian Russell Roberts氏の “borderwaters”の概念を提示し、続く七本の論考はその射程を国内外に張り巡らせ——先住民 / アフリカ系アメリカ / プエルトリコ / ボリビア / ハワイ / グアム等々——、最後二本の “Afterword”で閉じられる。
  • 11.2 (2020) 二つの特別フォーラムと一つのシンポジウムを掲載。一つめの特別フォーラム “Covid-19 Commentary”は、四本の論考を収録。新型コロナウイルス感染症による地球規模の影響を脱国家的アメリカ研究の視座——台湾、香港、トルコ、オーストラリア——から捉えつつ、研究教育方法およびアメリカのいまゆれ動く世界的立ち位置の把握方法を探究。二つ目の特別フォーラム “Transnational Nuclear Imperialisms”は、五本の論考から構成。核産業の諸問題を先住民共同体の搾取・破壊・排除に起因すると明確にみなし、その “nuclear imperialism”に対する抵抗を脱国家的枠組から捉えることで、それぞれの専門性・地域性を抱えてきたニュークリア・スタディーズ研究者同士の対話を再活性化させることを企図。続くシンポジウム“Framing American History: A Symposium in Honor of Thomas Bender”は、五本の論考を掲載。アメリカ史研究における “Synthetic Thinking”の意義を念頭に、脱国家的な視座による歴史記述の可能性を再考。
  • 12.1 (2021) 本号は “Responses to the 2020 Global Uprisings”と題した特集を掲載。ジョージ・フロイド事件が前号に引き続き取り上げられ、Kevin K. Gaines氏による“Reflections on Ben Okri, Goenawan Mohamad, and the 2020 Global Uprisings”は、ナイジェリアの作家批評家 Ben Okriとインドネシアの作家批評家 Goenawan Mohamadの論考を参照し、新型コロナウイルス感染症が孕む政治的・人種的問題にも言及しながら、ジョージ・フロイド事件を歴史的かつトランスナショナルな視座から再考。本論文につづいて、Okriの “‘I can’t breathe’: Why George Floyd’s Words Reverberate Around the World”と、Mohamadの“Strange Fruit”がリプリントされている。
