成蹊大学アジア太平洋研究センター主催公募企画である本国際会議は、イギリス、アメリカ、そしてアジアの視点から、海洋表象とそのメカニズムを多角的に検討します。Mary Fuller先生(MIT)およびEmma Teng先生(MIT)による二つの基調講演に加え、各国・地域の文脈ごとに四つのセッションが組まれています。第一日、セッション 2 「アメリカの文脈」には、巽先生がご登壇され、"Whale upon a Hill: from Hawthorne to Melville" と題してホーソーンやメルヴィルについてお話しなさいます。同じく下河辺美知子先生もご登壇され、"Sea and Sky in Nineteenth-century American Discourse: Ocean-going Novels of Herman Melville" をご発表なさいます。司会は越智博美先生(一橋大学)がお務めになります。ご関心お持ちの方は、ぜひお運びください!
