国境を越えたアメリカ文化の学際的研究の拡大を目指すアメリカ研究ウェブ雑誌 The Journal of Transnational American Studies (JTAS)。編集委員の一人を巽先生が務められています。このたび、最新号（Volume 6, Issue 1, 2015）が刊行されました！こちらからご覧いただけます。

本誌の趣旨は、アメリカ研究が持つ多元的でグローバルな可能性を掘り起こし、斬新で革新的な学術研究を模索するというもの。トランスナショナルなアメリカ研究について、文化的会話が交わされる場を可能な限り広く提供するため、インターネットへアクセスできる方なら、どなたでも無料で参加可能。文学や音楽、歴史、政治など、幅広い分野にわたる盛りだくさんな内容になっています！

創刊から六年を経た本号。シェリー・フィッシャー・フィシュキン氏（スタンフォード大学）による序文では、本号で扱われるトピックが、国際関係 / 翻訳 / 宗教 / 記憶 / 人種・エスニシティ/ 比較文化研究 /ナショナル・アイデンティティなど多岐に渡ることが提示されます。また、2014年のワーナー・ソラーズ氏のハーバード大学退職記念会議、アメリカ学会年次大会での講演、巽先生もご登壇された同大会での JTAS 初の編集委員会フォーラムに触れながら、本誌の主題 "Transnational American Studies" が今いちど再考されます。

最新研究書の序文をそろえたセクションは、昨年、慶應義塾大学三田キャンパスでご講義してくださったグレッグ・ロビンソン氏（ケベック大学モントリオール校）が担当。コスモポリタニズムと、太平洋的連帯ないし反アジア的偏見との歴史的闘争、の二つを主題とした研究書が集められています。ここには、巽先生が寄稿された Translated Poe も所収！

論文セクションは7つの論考を収録。ギブスン以降のポスト・サイバーパンク小説と米中関係について、 モーリーン・F・マクヒュー の China Mountain Zhang を対象に探求した論考や、ネリー・カンポベッロのメキシコ革命を扱った Cartucho を参照し、サンドラ・シスネロスの『マンゴー通り、ときどきさよなら』を考察した論考、アリス・ウォーカー作品をヒンドゥー教 / 仏教との連帯から再考した論考など、テクストに新たな光が当てられます。

また、9.11のモニュメントについて、アイルランド/スペイン/ドイツ/イタリア/イスラエルでの展開を分析した論考、トルコの反体制運動におけるユーモアを、ローカルな習慣とハリウッドなどアメリカ文化との交錯（翻訳）から読み解いた論考も所収。さらに、国境横断的に伸展するモルモン教文学に注目した論考、スティーブン・クレイン（米西戦争）とデクスター・フィルキンス（イラク戦争）を対象に戦争の記憶を扱った論考が掲載されています。

なお、復刻セクションは6つの論考を収録。序文はニナ・モルガン氏（ケネソー州立大学）が担当。コンテンツと形式の関係に焦点を置き、そこに孕まれるイデオロギーを問題視したものが取り上げられています。ここには、グレッグ・ロビンソン氏の "Whispers of the Unspeakable: New York and Montreal Newspaper Coverage of the Oscar Wilde Trials in 1895" が掲載。オスカー・ワイルドの裁判報道を、ロンドンから離れたニューヨークとモントリオールの新聞記事から分析し、当時の同性愛に対する態度を浮き彫りにされます。
