Dis-Orienting Planets: Racial Representations of Asia in Science Fictionは、3部構成 17本の論考を収録。オリエンタリズムや帝国主義をめぐる議論を参照しつつ、SFにおける人種問題を再考しています。第 1部 “First Encounteres” は SFにおける東西の邂逅を人種・政治的緊張に注目して考察。第 2部 “Fear of a Yellow Planet” は「イエロー・ペリル」と「テクノ・オリエンタリズム」の修辞に焦点を置き、第 3部 “Dis-Orienting Planets” は機械化されたアジア的主体を検討しています。
