■■■Professor Shirley Samuels■■■
アメリカ・コーネル大学英文科教授であるサミュエルズ氏は、19世紀アメリカ文学を専門とする研究者である。特に、19世紀文学に見られるアメリカの文化的・政治的想像力に着目し、アメリカ独立期および南北戦争期におけるアメリカの国家表象、感傷性とジェンダーの問題などに関する研究は、その後の研究に多大な影響を与えた。
著書にRomances of the Republic (Oxford UP, 1996), Facing America (Oxford UP, 2004), Reading the American Novel (Wiley-Blackwell, 2014), 編著にThe Culture of Sentiment (Oxford UP, 1992), A Companion to American Fiction 1865-1914 (Wiley-Blackwell, 2006), The Cambridge Companion to Abraham Lincoln (Cambridge UP, 2012)など。（※フライヤーより）
